The home video industry has shifted radically in my lifetime. When I was very young, VHS tapes seemed to take an eternity to arrive after a theatrical run, and the price was prohibitively expensive for a kid on an allowance. Today, the gap between cinema and home has shortened so much that a lot of people don't even bother going to theaters -- they just wait a few weeks for the home version, if that long.
