Apple isn't fond of acknowledging other platforms. The goal is to keep you inside the walled garden -- if AirPods worked just as well with Android devices as Apple products, for instance, you might buy a pair and never touch an iPhone. That, in turn, might steer you away from subscription services like Apple Music and iCloud+, since it's not like there aren't plenty of alternatives.
