With things like Android and Google Search dominating Google's attention, it's perhaps not surprising that Google TV and the Google TV Streamer aren't as well known as, say, a Pixel 10. That doesn't mean they're not important, but a streaming box doesn't quite wow in the same way as a smartphone. Or at least not yet. Recently, Google's been rolling out significant additions to the TV platform it revamped in 2020, integrating its star AI assistant Gemini into the mix for the first time. As a recommendation tool and a way to make your TV more than just display things, Gemini for Google TV (as Google has decided to brand it) is an interesting glimpse at the future of the smart home. It doesn't reinvent the Google TV Streamer, but it might make you reach for its remote more often.
