Ultimate Ears has a great line in portable, hardy speakers, and the Megaboom 3 is our pick of the bunch - in fact, it's still sitting pretty as our favourite portable speaker overall. It's got full waterproofing and can even float, so is perfect for all situations. Of course, the sound is also fab, with bass that'll have people bopping all over the shop.

The AT-LP3 is one of the best value turntables around. It's a fully automatic belt-driven system featuring a specially designed AT91R phono cartridge that's easy enough to swap out. Sound is fantastic thanks too, thanks to that cartridge/needle and the anti-resonance die-cast aluminium platter. You will need a decent pre-amp to get the most out of it, but make no mistake, this is a stellar player.

Amazon's latest Echo speaker is its first real crack at high-end audio, but comes paired with a distinctly affordably price tag. That's a pretty great mixture, and the Echo Studio really is a hit. This is a speaker with deep, well-balanced playback (especially when paired with lossless audio) for a price that almost beggars belief.

They come in an array of different colours and sound great.
